Low Volume Compliance is now available for the Nissan V36 Coupe - Automatic transmission only at this stage

Nissan's Skyline Coupe has long been one of Japan's best-kept secrets. For years the Skyline legend in Japan has been entwined inextricably between a powerhouse all-wheel-drive coupe and the initials GT-R. But those in the know will tell you that, in its own way, the less heralded two-wheel-drive Skyline Coupe has also been a highly desirable bit of kit.

Lighter and cheaper than the GT-R, but still quick and with rear-drive handling ideal for drifting, the Skyline Coupe has been one of the great performance bargains.

The V36 Skyline Coupe, was released in Japan last October and has already been drawing rave reviews in the US where it's sold as the all-but-identical Infiniti G37 Coupe.

Clearly an evolution of the excellent V35 Skyline Coupe that arrived in 2003 the V36 is sharper and sexier, and comes with Nissan's new-tech 3.7-litre VVEL V6 to deliver more power, torque and better response than the outgoing 3.5-litre.

The Coupe is shorter and wider than the new Skyline V36 sedan, and gets all-new panels, although the stiffer, second-generation FM platform and 2850mm wheelbase are shared.

But it's the "kinetic and seductive" design by Hiroshi Hasegawa (who also penned the new GT-R) that catches the eye first.

Settle into the new Skyline, and the seat and driving position are spot on, the cabin high on premium feel. In the back there are two smaller bucket seats (headroom is limited) and a wide, flat, yet rather shallow boot that is more than capable of carrying the mandatory set of golf clubs.

Press the (new) engine start button, and the VQ37VHR V6 fires into life. This is the first application of Nissan's variable valve event and lift technology which, like BMW's Valvetronic, improves air flow through the engine (and thus response and efficiency) by continuously adjusting valve timing and lift, instead of using a conventional throttle valve. The enlarged 3.7-litre V6 packs a reputed 246kW and 366Nm and revs meatily all the way to a strong-armed 7600rpm. It's like a 350Z engine, only more so. Throttle action is sharp.

Using the steering-wheel-mounted paddleshift to zap rapidly through the gears is addictive, the changes swift and smooth, with a nice throttle blip when you change down. Perfect.

The Hokkaido track, with its absorbing mix of slow and fast bends, hills, straights and different surfaces, underlined just how fun, fast and supremely agile this car is.

The V36 Coupe sports stiffer front double A-arms and rear multi-link suspension, wider tracks and lower centre of gravity against the V35. It turns in beautifully, stays flat and precise, with tight body/suspension control over bumps. And with keen, well-weighted and consistent steering, the new Skyline is unfailingly quick to shift direction.

On the high-speed circuit, the Skyline was rock solid and unruffled at a Japanese speed-limited 185km/h, and a new set of all-ventilated brakes with aluminium calipers repeatedly hauled it down from speed without fade or juddering. A new pop-up bonnet for pedestrian safety (which lifts slightly in the event of a collision to absorb the energy) also joins the V36 Coupe party.

WAKEFIELD PARK TRACK DAY

WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!!!

We have been inundated with calls & emails expressing thanks for such a great day & we couldn't be happier that everybody enjoyed themselves so much.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all that attended on the day.  It truly was an amazing line up of cars. Incident free & some great times put down with many people recording personal bests.  Times are available for viewing on www.natsoft.com.au

It is everybody that attends our track days that help make them what they are & Tuesday certainly was an exceptional day.  There was some riveting moments for drivers and spectators alike:

Shane in the R Tune S15 had an awesome run with the R31 & was certainly one of the highlights of the day. Chris in the Z Tune wasn't scared to get it sideways & I know got a few hearts pumping on quite a few occassions. James in the purple S13 had a great run with Alistair in the R35 GTR  The R35 GTR was on the track so much it went through 3 tanks of fuel & there must have been about 10 different drivers in the seat throughout the day. The Bathurst R32 GTR is always exciting to watch but I think it recorded it's fastest time ever on one of our days, thanks for pushing it Terry. Neil De Pau in the Radical was our fastest car on the day with a blistering 1:06. Neil drove the car hard recording consistant low times all day & certainly provided some fierce competition for other drivers.

The Time Attack was definately another highlight of the day with everybody pushing their cars to the limit. Matt had everybody in fits of laughter with his commentary as cars swerved this way & that, trying to get down their best times. Congratulations to the winners SHANE MAYTOM - fastest under 1:15 & PHIL MINKE fastest over 1:15 Well done! A special mention also goes to our Rookie of the day JULIE FAINE in the Renault who shaved several seconds off her times throughout the day to finish with a personal best of 1:17 Great driving Julie!

We are extremely grateful to our volunteers on the day - Matt Robinson , Ben Kerker, Ross Kerker, Steve Godfrey, Corinne Murray & Noel Curtis - you all did a supurb job, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I have started a photo album in our gallery section of the website. Unfortunately I didn't get time to take too many photo's myself but we had a professional photographer that was taking photo's all day as well as 2 photographers from ACP & of course almost everybody else that was there had a camera or video recorder in their hands all day so as I receive these pictures & footage I will update the gallery.

Once again, thank you to all involved on the day.

GTR 2008

NISSAN's PORSCHE PULVERISER

Faster than the famed Porsche 911 Turbo Nissan's new awe inspiring GT-R 2+2 coupe is poised to take on the best the world has to offer. The 353kW twin turbo V6 blasts from 0-100km/h in a scorching 3.6 seconds. Top speed is a daunting 310km/h. Nissan GT-R goes on sale in Japan in December 2007 and in the United States in June 2008 but Aussies will have to wait more than 12 months to lay eyes on the beast dubbed Godzilla.

GT-R certainly looks the part. With a brutal rear end emblazoned with four signature round tail lights, four exhaust tips & 285/35 tyres. Standard equipment includes a pop up bonnet to reduce pedestrian injuries, a computer display & Bose sound system.

This is the 3rd generation GT-R and differs from previous models in many respects. For a start, it's a purpose built vehicle, not based on the current Skyline. As such, it no longer carries the Skyline name but is designated R35. The engine too is no longer a straight six, but rather a lighter more compact 3.8 litre V6 with integrated turbo system. Each engine is hand assembled in a contaminant free room to ensure qualty and reliability. With three key design criteria, designers were given an open cheque book.

  1. It had to have a power/weight ratio of less than 4kg to the horsepower.
  2. It had to be able to achieve 300 km/h not just on the track, but on the open road.
  3. It had to be able to clock a time less than eight minutes on Germany's famous Nurburgring race circuit (7.38 minutes as it turns out on a partly wet track). At the same time the 2 door, four seat coupe has been designed to be idiot proof, able to be driven with confidence by just about anyone.

Not on ly is the GT-R incredibly quick, but surprisingly fuel efficient too, with economy rated at 12.2 litres/100km, qualifying as an ultra low emission vehicle. Extensive use is made of aluminium, carbon fibre and plastics to keep weight down but it still tips the scales at 1740kg. The doors, bonnet and boot lid are all amuminium.

With the engine mounted in front and transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear, the car has 53 per cent weight bias towards the front. Maximum power of 353 kW is achieved at 6400rpm and peak torque of 588Nm is developed between 3200 and 5200rpm.

The engine is hooked up to an automated, six speed dual clutch transmission. Wheel mounted paddles are provided to change gears in manual mode. The spread of torque between the front and rear wheels varies from 50 to 100 per cent. Drivers can choose between manual and automatic modes with three different driving styles from which to select.

All in all, the GT-R is an impressive package and one that will be worth the wait.

NISSAN ANNOUNCES NEW NISSAN GT-R
- New Dimensional Multi-Performance Supercar Available in Early December -

TOKYO (Oct. 24, 2007) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the launch of the Nissan GT-R, a new multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of "an ultimate supercar for anyone, anywhere, at anytime". The Nissan GT-R features a newly developed Premium Midship package, including the world's first independent transaxle 4WD developed independently by Nissan. The Nissan GT-R will be available in Japan mainly through Nissan High Performance Centers nationwide from December 6th.

The Nissan GT-R was developed with a new understanding and appreciation of the Earth's natural forces - gravity, inertial force and aerodynamics - and translates those forces into a completely new design, maximizing tyre grip and airflow.

Basic vehicle dynamics and integration with the driver have also been examined, resulting in new componentry and creating a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) never seen before in the marketplace. All of these theories have been integrated to balance "speed and efficiency," "high-output with environmental consideration" and "high performance and safety."

Taking these factors into account, Nissan created the all-new Nissan GT-R, which offers advanced high performance for secure and enjoyable driving by minimizing the effects of climatic, road condition or driving technique limitations. The Nissan GT-R offers ultimate performance for virtually every driving situation - whether it be the Nurburgring circuit, to snow, rain or urban areas - all manageable by the GT-R driver through advanced technology and driving dynamics.

The Nissan GT-R's unique characteristics are instilled not just in the vehicle's design, but also through a specialized production process. Carbon fibre, aluminum and steel components are assembled with a special high-precision process, which includes a series of vibration tests. Engines and transmissions are assembled by a single craftsman in a "clean room" environment and upon completion, every GT-R undergoes a battery of comprehensive tests to ensure the proper operation of all vehicle components.

To properly support the all-new GT-R, Nissan has established special Nissan High Performance Centres, where all certified advisors and technicians have received extensive training. Total support for the GT-R owner is offered for the first three years of ownership, including measurement and adjustment of the engine, transmission and wheel alignment after the first 1000 km, and again every 12 months, free of charge.

Packaging and Driveline Suited for a Supercar
The all-new Nissan GT-R uses a Premium Midship package, an all-new, more advanced version Front Midship (FM) package utilized on other Nissan vehicles. This new package enables the use of the world's first application of an independent transaxle 4WD system. The transaxle's layout places the dual-clutch transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle (instead of the usual front location), which enables vehicle weight to be evenly distributed throughout the car. This gives the Nissan GT-R a superb front-to-rear weight balance, while enhancing leg and foot space and allowing for an optimal pedal layout.

Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine, featuring plasma-sprayed bores and a special twin-turbo exhaust manifold system. A secondary air management system enables the newly designed powerplant to provide approximately 40kg/m of torque during ordinary low-rev driving, which gives an optimum air-fuel ratio for around-town efficiency and helps the Nissan GT-R meet ultra-low emission vehicle (U-LEV) standards in Japan.

The Nissan GT-R's new engine produces 480PS (353kW) at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 60kgm (588Nm) from 3200 to 5200rpm. Putting the power to the ground is an all-new GR6-type dual clutch transmission, with paddle shifting and a Borg Warner six-plate dual clutch for direct control.

Suspension duties are handled through a special Bilstein DampTronic system, which utilizes all pertinent vehicle information to provide appropriate damping forces for all situations and helps maintain a high level of control for straight-line driving, cornering, and braking.

Braking is essential for a daily-driven supercar and the GT-R features large Brembo full-floating drilled rotors, low steel high stiffness brake pads and Brembo mono block six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, which in combination minimize fade and provide stable braking. Run-flat tires, exclusively designed for use on the Nissan GT-R, balance high grip and all-weather capabilities and a comfortable ride in all driving situations. The tires are designed to maintain structure for 80km of travel at 80 km/h, while still providing an acceptable level of performance.

High-Performance Safety and Environmental Technologies
The Nissan GT-R offers a long list of safety and environmental features, including, for enhanced visibility inside and out of the vehicle, high-mounted LED stoplamps, bright LED rear combination taillights, "super wide beam" headlights, heated door mirrors and flat-blade wipers.

Standard safety equipment includes a pop-up engine hood system for enhanced pedestrian safety, driver and front passenger SRS Air Bag System, ELR front seat belts with tension reducer, front seat belts with load limiter, and three-point ELR rear seat belts. Driver and front passenger SRS Side Air Bag System and SRS Curtain Air Bag System are offered as options.

Environmental technologies include extensive work to create an U-LEV certification in Japan for the 3.8-liter twin turbo engine and reduced levels of volatile organic compound for materials used in the car.

Functional Design - High Performance Aerodynamics and Style
The Nissan GT-R's styling follows the function over form theory. Every styling aspect, from the overall design to the smallest details, is created to maximize the vehicle's driving experience - as well as suggesting GT-R's "supercar" level of performance. Utilizing advanced aerodynamics, the Nissan GT-R's aggressive styling evokes the lines of a well-trained athlete, combining strong character lines with smooth and solid areas.

The all-new GT-R's body is created with a combination of steel, carbon fiber and aluminum, providing a unique combination of stiffness and lightness. The Nissan GT-R features a low coefficient of drag of 0.27, with high front and rear downforce, which provides the GT-R with enhanced grip in all weather situations, while also enhancing fuel efficiency.

The front fenders express power and stability, while the "aero-blades" on the fenders' leading edges provide optimum airflow around the tires and along the body. The scoop in the fenders' trailing edges assists in providing front downforce and optimization of side airflow. The aggressive front end, with a large hood budge and single air intake, provides a sophisticated style as well as undisturbed airflow for power and cooling. New "super wide beam" headlights feature three additional sub-reflectors (compared to conventional lights) to give a wider spread to the illumination area.

The Nissan GT-R's large, four-passenger cabin features a sloping "aero blade canopy" roofline and curved C-pillar "sword edge," which expresses the distinctive GT-R identity, as well as facilitating air flow around the rear of the vehicle. The GT-R's hallmark four-ring taillights, efficient rear spoiler and large, integrated ö120 exhaust tips, provides the signature rear view of the GT-R, as well as optimizing airflow along the top and under the vehicle.

The high level of advanced technology is evident even in the Nissan GT-R's paint - which utilizes a "double clear coat" and "anti-chipping" process. The Nissan GT-R features Ultimate Silver as a special new color, which is painstakingly hand-polished by craftsman.

An Interior Suitable for Daily Driving or Supercar Duties
Key to the Nissan GT-R's usability as a both daily driver and a high-performance supercar is its interior, which is designed to balance functionality, a sense of ease, and comfort.

Sculpted performance bucket seats give the driver and passenger a comfortable driving experience, and soft pads are utilized on the dash in front of the passenger and doors to give an extra level of comfort and safety.

The instrument panel surrounds the driver, with all meters and multi-function meter at a uniform height to minimize the driver's head movement when traveling at high speeds. A large center-mounted tachometer, with gear display on its upper right, as well as the easy-to-read graphics of the display, gives the driver instant detailed information, essential for the performance nature of the GT-R.

Functional style is also evident in the Nissan GT-R - each meter features a dial plate design that evokes the idea of engaged gears, as well as a three-dimensional metal-like ring, suggesting the multi-dimensional performance of the GT-R. A large, metallic-framed center console features the ergonomically designed shift lever and a red "engine start" button.

Adjustability is central to the daily-driver nature of the Nissan GT-R, with a special "set-up switch" located in the center of the instrument panel. This switch enables the driver to adjust transmission shifts, shock absorbers and the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC-R) in three settings - Normal, Comfort or R, the high-performance setting designed for the Nissan GT-R "supercar" application.

A high-speed, high-capacity CARWINGS (Japan market) navigation system, with a powerful 30GB hard disk drive, features an easy-to-use touch pad, as well as traditional navigation switches. The screen interface features not only the navigation system, but also an enriched entertainment system with a Music Box hard drive, DVD and CD player, and Bluetooth® *2 audio function.

For special use in the GT-R application, the multi-function meter also includes mechanical and driving information for safe high performance driving, including acceleration opening, brake pedal pressure, and steering angle. It also includes an "optimal gearshift map," to emphasize economical vehicle operation.

A specially designed BOSE sound system includes two forward-facing woofers in the rear center armrest area combined with traditional door speakers. All speakers are mounted in rigid aluminum die cast panels, which combined with the design of the system itself, provide sound quality suitable for a supercar.

NISSAN GTR

It's been a long time coming, but Nissan's GT-R has arrived early. Take a look at the first official pictures of the interior, exterior and details.

It was meant to be the big surprise of next week’s Tokyo Motor Show – but we can now reveal Nissan's big secret!

After months of spy shots, a raft of teaser images and plenty of high performance promises, these are the first official pictures of Nissan’s new GT-R supercar.

While the firm hoped to release images to coincide with the car’s unveiling in Japan, an American publication has broken the agreed picture embargo and published the shots early.

As you can see, the final production model has remained close to the original concept, with sharp angles and a distinctive front-end. At the rear the new model retains the GT-R’s trademark round lamps, while the tapered window line also helps the Japanese model to stand out.

Inside, the design is less modern, with round air vents and a prominent centre console surrounding the race-inspired dials. These pictures also reveal the Nissan’s hi-tech dashboard mounted switches for controlling the suspension, four-wheel drive system and traction control systems.

The two-door model has two compact rear seats and a conventional boot.

When the new flagship goes on sale next year, it will be powered by a front mounted V6 engine developing around 470bhp. All wheel drive and the latest differential technology will help to give the GT-R the grip it needs to provide supercar performance. Early indications are that the 0-60mph sprint takes only 3.5 seconds!

Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn explains: “Today’s technology allows us to make a high performance car, a flagship car for Nissan that can be adapted to all the driving conditions across the globe.”

HKS CRANK DAMPER PULLEY KIT

R33/R34 GTR HKS CRANK DAMPER PULLEY KIT

in stock now!

When the RB26DETT engine is revved over 7200 RPM and closer to 8000 RPM, the engine experiences torsional vibration to the crankshaft. The HKS Crank Damper Pulley is specially designed to protect the RB26DETT engine from torsional vibration damage as a result of engine vibration or excessive metal hits.

Traditionally, the crank pulley is solid steel and any balance imperfection is exaggerated at high revs. The HKS item, however, is filled with liquid, so centrifugal forces propel the fluid to the outer area of the pulley where it sets its own perfect level, smoothing out vibrations and acting as a counterweight for other internals.

The HKS Crank Damper Pulley is a must have item for high RPM loads or highly tuned cars.  This item is suitable for installation on cars with air-conditioning, or with power steering.

To install this item, a Mitsubishi alternator must be used (Hitachi's alternator is not supported).

This item is not applicable to BNR32 model.

TEIN S TECH SPRINGS

WARNING ! COUNTERFEIT TEIN S TECH SPRINGS

Recently, TEIN has confirmed that some EBay sellers are guilty of selling COUNTERFEIT TEIN S TECH Springs. To assure authenticity of any TEIN product please make your purchases only through a TEIN Authorised Dealer.

TEIN would like to inform the public of the differences between the COUNTERFEIT TEIN S TECH springs and the Authentic S TECH springs.

Difficult-to-tell counterfeit S Tech springs are being heavily marketed. Such replicas may be of bad quality and extremely dangerous.

  • No precise lowering spec
  • Unknown quality which may lead to sagging, rust, cracking and noise issues
  • Unknown engineering data
  • Extremely dangerous and can lead to suspension failure

TEIN is now in the process of taking legal action in an effort to resolve the issue. TEIN are committed to keep the general public informed as information becomes available.

TEIN S TECH Springs-Authentic Vs Counterfeit

Point 1: Outer box - Print

The words 'STYLISH SPEC' on the fake box are thinner and darker in colour than the genuine one.

Point 2 - Outer Box Product Label

  • The fake label is bigger than the frame printed on the box thus going over the line.
  • Fonts used on the label are thinner and the print is lighter.

Point 3 - Product Part and Lot Number

  • Genuine S Tech springs have both part number and lot number printed parallel to the coil itself while the fake one has them parallel to the ground (meaning at an angle to the coil)
  • Also, the fake one has bolder letters

Point 4 - Product Logo

  • The fake one has a TEIN Logo 'sticker'. The real S Tech will have the TEIN Logo printed directly on the spring

Point 5

  • Different designs illustrate a difference in engineering data therefore, the fake products quality specs and MOST IMPORTANTLY your SAFETY is left unknown.

HKS 280 SUPRA CAMSHAFTS GAIN 105 HP

HKS Launches Camshafts for Mitsubishi EVO IX

HKS the leader in Driving Performance products introduces camshafts for the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MIVEC 4G63 Engine. Through extensive research and testing, HKS engineers  developed an all-new intake camshaft to work seamlessly with the variable valve timing found in the Mitsubishi Evolution IX power plant. This new intake camshaft features 272° of duration and 10.8mm of lift, and when combined with HKS’ 272° 4G63 exhaust camshaft produces horsepower and torque gains across the power band. Both intake and exhaust camshafts are compatible with the factory MIVEC 4G63 valve train.

The HKS camshafts for the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MIVEC 4G63 Engine are available as a set, Intake (272° duration/10.8mm lift) and Exhaust (272° duration/10.2mm lift) camshafts. Or the camshafts can be purchased separately.

2007 350z

NISSAN RELEASE THE 2007 model 350Z

The updates to the 350Z reinforce its credentials as a pure sports car.

At the heart of this new model is Nissan's award winning next generation engine - designated VQ35HR - with nearly 80% of major parts redesigned. Maximum power output has risen from 221kW to 230kW on the back of the changes to the engine. Peak torque output has also increased in manual models from 353Nm to 358Nm and the maximum engine speed has also increased by 500rpm to 7500 rpm.

To achieve the additional performance, a dual intake system has been fitted and the variable valve timing system has a wider range of operation, plus the addition of a common length exhaust manifold reduces back pressure. Combined these changes boost low and mid-range torque.

Standard interior features include heated leather sports seats, automatic climate control air conditioning, Bose 240 watt sound system with 7 speakers including a sub-woofer, power wiundows and heated exterior door mirrors, steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls and a three-bay gauge cluster for oil pressure, volt meter & trip computer.

Nissan's Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Shinya Hannya, commented on the update "The changes are designed to not only improve on the performance of the 350Z but build on its reputation as one of our best performance sports cars".

ORAN PARK 1st SEPTMBER 2006

POWERPLAY IMPORTS NISMO R34 GTR Z-tune UNVEILING

A NISSAN SPECTACULAR at ORAN PARK GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT

Thank you to everyone who joined us to share this experience. Each & every one of you were instrumental in achieving this most memorable day.

From the moment Alistair & I arrived it was clearly obvious this was going to be an extraordinary day. The line up of cars awaiting our arrival was truly a spectacular sight as we drove up in the Z-tune. We obviously knew what cars were participating on the day but to actually see you all lined up was one of those times when you are lost for words, it really was an unforgettable moment for us. Thank you all so much.

GTR Parade - GTR's as far as the eye could see.

NISSAN PARADE - Not to be outdone by the GTR spectacular, this parade featured a fantastic selection of Nissans.

A VERY SPECIAL thanks to our volunteers:

Nicole, Michele & David - thank you so much for preparing the lunches & beveridges for everybody, this was a huge task & your help was very much appreciated.

Nathan, David, Robert, Tosh, Gerard & Jason - thank you for your assistance with vehicle scrutinising. There was a lot of cars to get through & you guys did a great job.

Thank you Tsuyoshi for travelling from Japan to spend the day with us. You finally got to see the R32 GTR's true potential on the race track. Second fastest time on the day 1:19.18. You are a champion!

Thank you Ashley & Jay for travelling from Queensland to spend the day with us. We really enjoyed having you there. Ashley, after sending you so many parts it was great to finally see that sleek S15 of yours.

Thank you to Tosh & Robert for the extra efforts you put in to ensure all cars were prepared in time for the day.

Thank you to Mathew Coleman for flying up from Melbourne & taking the Z-tune out on the track. Mathew, you are a really great guy & everybody who met & talked with you on the day share our same sentiments.

Finally, the biggest thank you of all
John - "KING OF THE ROAD" - it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you over the last eight months. Thank you so much for your generousity & confidence in Powerplay in allowing us to take the Z-tune onto the track before you yourself had even driven it. You have given so many people a truly unforgettable experience. I know I'll certainly never forget my lap around Oran Park. You truly are one of a kind.

Photo's will be uploaded in our gallery section early next week. As you can appreciate there are thousands to sift through so please be patient, we'll get them up as quickly as possible.

The NISMO R34 GTR Z-tune was the fastest of the day 1:18.5820. With only 140Klm's on the clock & the 250kph speed limiter in place we couldn't run it at it's full potential. John actually hit the speed limit down the straight on his first lap.

Second fastest on the day was the Powerplay R32 GTR masterminded by Tsuyoshi 1:19.1800. We couldn't have been happier with this result.

To celebrate the launch of the only NISMO R34 GTR Z-tune in Australia, NISMO have kindly donated a selection of NISMO products. We have therefore decided to present a gift pack to the fastest lap time in each class excluding the NISMO R34 GTR Z-tune & the Powerplay R32 GTR.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

GROUP 2 - DALE COGHLAN 1:22.7890

Well what can we say… the day was fantastic!

First and foremost we would like to say our Thank you’s.

Terry Ashwood and Rod Markland – Thank you for bringing your cars out. We acknowledge they are expensive to run and we really appreciate your taking the time to bring them down and run them on the day for us. Your participation was crucial in raising the profile of this event and it would not have been the same without yourselves and your cars there.

Our Volunteers – Steve, Sue, Noel, Paul. This day would not have been possible and it certainly would not have run as smooth as it did without your assistance. Your contributions were very much appreciated by us. We can’t thank you enough for volunteering your time to take care of mundane tasks such as manning the front gate and scrutineering all the cars we had.

Tsuyoshi – Thank you for travelling all the way from Japan to this share this time with us.

Team Powerplay Attack Mt Panorama, Bathurst

Team Powerplay Attack Mt Panorama, Bathurst

Well, what a huge weekend we had in Bathurst last weekend! The weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by all despite the 11 degree freeze on Saturday and the 30 degree heat.on Sunday. What a great bunch of people. We can’t wait until next year.
Every year in the 1st weekend of December (which fell on the 3rd and 4th this year), the Bathurst Light Car Club put on what they call the Speed Weekend. This consists of a Super Sprint on Saturday and a Hill Climb on Sunday (All sanctioned by CAMS of course). This year the Super Sprint was run on the latter part of the track starting just before the rise at the end of Conrod Straight, going through Caltex Chase and finishing on Pit Straight. Runs took anywhere from 45 Seconds upwards. The quickest time on the day of 45.66 went to Steven Shiels of the BLCC who was running a VL Commodore Sports Sedan.

The Hill Climb was run from Mountain Straight, through The Cutting and up to McPhillamy Park, taking competitors past the famous Ambrose/Murphy crash site. Hill Climb runs took anything from 48 seconds upwards. The quickest time of the day again went to Steve Shiels of the BLCC in his VL Commodore Sports Sedan with a blistering time of 48.56 Seconds.

Team Powerplay consisted of Shane “MAYHEM” Maytom in his “R TUNE” S15 Silvia, James “1/4 MILES” Miles in his Tough R33 GTR, Craig “CANE IT!” McKay in his Stunning Autech 260RS Stagea, and Chris “EATS EM” Easton in his Drift Spec R31 GTS-X. All cars were professionally presented in Team Powerplay graphics and drivers were attired in Powerplay Polo Shirts. All 4 competitors took to the track with great enthusiasm and put in a stunning performance. Chris “EATS EM” Easton took honours within Team Powerplay for the super sprint with a time of 54.68 seconds. Following VERY closely behind was James “1/4 MILES” Miles with a time of 55.87 seconds. Craig “CANE IT!” McKay finished with an impressive time of 56.08 seconds. Chris “EATS EM” Easton again took honours within Team Powerplay for the Hill Climb with a time of 57.00 seconds. Unfortunately Craig “CANE IT!” McKay was unable to compete due to work commitments and Shane “MAYHEM” Maytom had to retire with a worn clutch after his first run.
From myself, Jo-Ann, Alistair and Robert we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Shane, James, Craig and Chris for the manner in which they represented us and for their professionalism throughout the weekend. It really was a top notch effort guys and we can’t tell you how much we appreciate your efforts. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts and we look forward to another successful event next year. We would also like to make a mention of all the other competitors who were more than happy to give us advise and assist us in any way. Thank You Guys.
Our thanks also goes to those who came along to lend their support to Team Powerplay and the drivers, Kazu Nakamura, Steven Godfrey, Carl & Chris Batby, Steve Phillips, David & Brian Trist, Jeremy & Julie Braithwaite & Brett Grabham.

Tosh

Renault/Nissan Shared Goals

ELF has developed a new-generation 5W-30 lubricant to meet specifications drawn up jointly by Renault and Nissan. This is the only low-saps lubricant to have been chosen by both carmakers, and will be delivered in industrial quantities from April 2005.

From a technical standpoint, the alliance sealed between Renault and Nissan in March 1999 involves increasingly close cooperation between both partner firms in efforts to develop, use and share mechanical components. The engine and gearbox are the two main areas concerned.

For example, Nissan’s 3.5l V6 engine powers the Renault Vel Satis and Espace. Renault’s 1.5l dCi engine powers the Nissan Almera and Micra. This close relationship has in turn prompted the two carmakers to draw up joint lubricant specifications. In the category of oils with low sulphated-ash, phosphorus and sulphur content (or Low-SAPS oils) for vehicles with latest-generation after-treatment systems (particle filters), Renault-Nissan has only chosen one lubricant to date, the 5W-30 oil offered by ELF. The oil is the fruit of two years of work by the Research Centre in Solaize and ELF product engineers. And its technology is nothing short of revolutionary. Deliveries to Renault’s plant in Cleon (France) and, via Idemitsu, to Nissan’s plant in Yokohama (Japan) will start in mid 2005 (by that time this new type of lubricant will have a trade name, too).

NEW GTR PROTO UNVEILED

NISSAN GT-R LEGEND IN THE 21st CENTURY

NISSAN will unveil the long awaited Prototype of the next generation GTR at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show.

Nissan GT-R Proto at a glance

  • Ultimate driving pleasure

  • Exterior design close to final

  • Official launch set for 2007

At the 35th Tokyo Motor Show in 2001 Nissan unveiled the GT-R concept, confirming that the GT-R legend would be continued into the 21st century. Then at the 37th Tokyo Motor Show in 2003 Nissan announced the next generation GT-R would be rolled out in 2007. Now with the launch of the production model just two years away, the development of the new GT-R has moved ahead again with the unveiling of the GT-R Proto.

Ultimate Driving Pleasure

In essence, driving pleasure means that a car responds faithfully to the drivers wishes and performs precisely as expected. Successive generations of the GT-R have consistently pursued this vision of ultimate driving pleasure. Whether on the road or race track, the GT-R has always represented ultimate performance combined with handling qualities that stay faithful to the drivers wishes in all conditions. As a result, the GT-R has built a reputation that extends far beyond just its loyal owner base.

Exterior Design – pure performance

The design of the GT-R Proto expresses pure GT-R heritage, coming from the first model PGC10 in 1969 to the R34 in 1999, in a new and expressive form.

From it’s original roots as a pure bred Japanese performance car, the new GT-R will now be a car sold globally, recognizing its ability to compete with the very best in the world. For the first time in its history the new GT-R will be designed as a specific body style and not derived from a sedan.

The design language of the GT-R Proto is expressed by a distinctive body style that communicates pure performance and functionality. The form of the GT-R Proto instantly expresses its purpose and potential but in a way that is unique to this iconic car.

At the front end, the single centre air intake is designed to optimise air flow and to strongly link the identity of the GT-R from the R34 to the GT-R Concept of 2001.

Front fenders are uniquely designed through intensive analysis of the air flow around the tyres and the air vent behind the front fender also optimises aerodynamics. The sides of the body are sculptured towards the rear fender, expressing the power and dynamic tension of the car.

The overall shape of the body combines solid and smooth surfaces to achieve the look of a well trained athlete. The unique C Pillar crease is designed for optimum aerodynamics, reflecting the racing DNA of the GT-R.

The rear of the GT-R Proto is strong and well defined. The signature four ring shaped tail lamps provide an immediate visual link to previous GT-R models. Four large bore exhaust pipes complete the purposeful look, which could only be that of a pure GT-R.

Drivetrain and suspension details are top secret at this point but you can be sure this car will be a true performer. We have heard Lotus may assist in tuning of the suspension. Rumors say that engineers are currently testing a 4WD prototype fitted with a twin turbo 3.7 litre V6 producing in excess of 450hp. The specially developed engine is mated with a two pedal 7 speed AMT (auto/manual transmission).  September 2007 is the likely release date.

The GT-R Proto provides for the first time a clear indication of the final design direction for the production model to be launched in 2007, the first all new GT-R in eight years.

It will not take the Skyline name, the GT-R will be promoted as a model line in its own right.

'Up Close and Personal Photo's available for viewing in our gallery after 22nd October.

Nissan Japan have launched an official website with a countdown  to the unveiling www.gtrproto.com

Carlos Ghosn announces the Nissan recovery is "Complete"

Carlos Ghosn, Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motor Corporation announced that the recovery of Japan's once struggling motor company is complete with it's ambitious sales targets achieved. Ghosn told a news conference in Tokyo on Thursday,

"I am very pleased to announce that the revival process of Nissan is completed."

He said the last target under the "Plan 180" recovery programme, a one million increase in sales to 3.6 millon vehicles by the year to September 2005, would be reached on schedule. Adding that it may even be surpassed by 50,000.

Ghosn has already achieved the other Plan 180 goal of an operating profit margin of 8 percent and zero debt.

The company will now move to the next stage, the 3 year "Value Up" plan beginning in the fiscal year to March 2008, during which time it would cement its alliance with Renault and improve it's synergies with the French auto manufacturer.

Renault currently holds a controlling 44 percent stake in Nissan.

Powerplay Imports to tackle the Mountain!!

On the first weekend in December, the Bathurst Light Car Club (http://www.blcc.com.au/) put on their annual Speed Weekend for motorsport enthusiasts. Consisting of Super Sprints and Hillclimbs over the 2 days, this is a fantastic event to get involved in and 1 of VERY few opportunities you will get to drive on this very famous stretch of road without fear of police or on-coming traffic.

The Super Sprint is run on the Saturday from the bottom of Conrod Straight, through the Caltex Chase and over
